Question by wondering: Is online gambling legal in Illinois? After searching it just said there were restrictions.?
I also wondered if winning cash prizes is legal if other types of gambling in Illinois ends up not being legal.

By federal statute it’s all illegal, so it does not matter what state you are in.

Certain online casinos offer bonuses when you subscribe and force you to wager a certain amount of money before being able to cash out the bonus. On many website, the theoretical lost is smaller than the bonus offered, therefore it would give you some profit. Example, you get a 100$ bonus and have to wager $ 4,000. If the theoretical lost was $ 40, you would make a profit of $ 60.

Now, let’s say I start a sweatshop in China with many workers, get many IDs from Europe and then trained the workers to play the games perfectly. They would then play all day long and subscribe to every possible casino, I would have a list of the big progressive jackpots and when one would be high enough, everyone would play until it’s won. Other than that, every casino that offer a bonus with positive expectation would be milked to the maximum by everyone.

Would it be legal?

That’s a wonderful business scheme. I like how you included exploiting workers in China, and then used them to try and rip off online casinos. Sweet.

But the problem with your scheme is it relies on finding a game with a house edge of just 1% and then playing it perfectly.

But even if you could do that, you would have to do this thousands of times for the math to begin to work out. Sooner or later you are going to attract the attention of the online casino you are targeting. They are going to notice dozens of sign ups from the same area, unless you invent false addresses.

You are also talking about a tiny margin of error here. You want to risk $ 4,000 to win a potential bonus of $ 60? It would only take one incompetent worker getting unlucky to wipe out your profits from 50 or more sign ups.

You would also need a bank roll of nearly half a million dollars, just to have 100 workers. Not to mention the cost of computers, internet connections, workers wages etc.

Also after all this set up, once casinos figured out what you were doing, they would likely put a stop to it.

Frankly, if you had several hundred thousand dollars to spend on a business opportunity, you’d probably be better of investing in property.

i dont have a site but i can tell you that online gambling is legal in all of these united states what is not legal is for your bank to make deposits to gambling sites thats why you cant use a bank card to load up your account but there are ways around it just use google and search for how to load your poker account via epassport or a prepaid visa card those work well for me.

The laws are in effect now. They have already closed down numerous online gambling sites. More to close in the future. Online gambling will be gone pretty soon.

For Spain it is legal to play on gambling sites hosted everywhere. For France for now the law says no, but I heard soon they will legalise it in France.

So my mom was playing this online poker game that she downloaded to her computer. She was playing and won a huge sum of money. ($ 20,000). She lives in the state of New York and the money came from Canada where the gambling company is located. Is this legal? Please help! I cannot get her to contact a lawyer. I am an adult by the way, not a little kid asking this.

I heard that they are very close to making online gambling legal is this true? I also heard if you live any were in the usa and get caught playing online for money you can get up to 5 years in jail. I heard this story that a college kid was playing online poker for money in his classroom and his teacher told the police he had to do 5 years in jail. So can you go to jail if you play online poker and live in the usa as of right now?

You can’t go to jail for playing poker online. No one has ever been arrested for playing poker online.

The House Financial Services Committee just passed Barney Frank’s Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act so, yes, they are one step closer to explicitly legalizing online poker at the federal level. Right now the legality is in a gray area, since poker is a game of skill.

It’s illegal, but the Internet is not limited to the U.S., so people just create foreign accounts and visit foreign sites and do it anyway. Still, if you’re caught, it’s a felony and can land you in federal prison for at least a year.
